hariolus (ariolus), ī, m. (Demin. v. *harius, ἱερεύς), der Wahrsager, Weissager, zunächst eine Art Leute, die (bes. im Zirkus zu Rom) denen, die weder auswärtige Orakel noch Chaldäer oder Haruspices befragen fonnten, teils als Nativitätssteller, teils als sortilegi dienten (vgl.
