Marcomanī u. Marcomannī, ōrum, m. (Μαρκομανοί Ptol., Μαρκομάννοι Dio Cass.; eig. Grenzmänner, Grenzbewahrer, von marka, die Grenze), die Markomannen, der gefürchtetste unter den Suebenstämmen in Germanien; sie zogen nach den Niederlagen in Rhätien durch Drusus vom Rhein u.
