Melanippus (in Hdschrn. [viell. schon von den Römern] versetzt Menalippus), ī, m. (Μελάνιππος), Sohn des Astakus, ein Thebaner, der Theben tapfer gegen die sieben Fürsten verteidigte, Mörder des Tydeus, von Amphiaraus endlich im Kampfe getötet, Stat. Theb. 8, 740. – Stoff einer Tragödie des Accius, Cic. Tusc. 3, 20.
