nōminātio, ōnis, f. (nomino), I) die Nennung, Benennung, A) im allg., Vitr. 6, 7, 7. – B) insbes., als rhet. t. t., eine Redefigur, wenn man eine Sache, die noch keinen od. keinen passenden Namen hat, mit einem passenden Namen bezeichnet, die Benennung, Namenbeilegung, Cornif. rhet. 4, 42. – II) als publiz. t. t., die Namhaftmachung eines Kandidaten, das Vorschlagen (der Vorschlag) zu einer Priesterwürde od. zu einem Staatsamt (vgl. nomino no. III, B, 1), nominationis dies, Plin. ep. 4, 8, 3: m. subj. Genet., nom. consulum (auf den V. der K.), Tac. ann. 6, 45: nominatio in locum eius non est facta, Liv. 26, 23, 8: auguratus locum, in quem ego eum meā nominatione cooptabo, Cic. Phil. 13, 12: is in Pansae locum petere constituit. Eam nominationem a te petimus, Cic. ep. ad Brut. 1, 7, 1.
