pedisequus (altlat. pedisecus), a, um (*peda = griech. πεδά, 'μετά', u. sequor), nachfolgend, subst., pedisequus, ī, m. u. pedisequa, ae, f. (in Inschrn. abgek. PED. od. PEDIS. od. PEDISQ. od. PEDISEQ.), der Diener, die Dienerin, die der Herrschaft auf dem Fuße folgen, Plaut., Cic. u.a. – im Bilde, iuris scientiam eloquentiae tamquam ancillulam pedisequamque adiunxisti, Cic.: divitiae, quae virtutis pedisequae sint, Cornif. rhet. – übtr., clamore pedisequorum nostrorum, unseres Nachtrabs unter dem Pöbel, Cic. ad Att. 2, 16, 1: pedisequos tibi sum, ich folge dir auf dem Fuße, Plaut. mil. 1009: v. Abstr., cum indiscreta felicium pedisequa (Begleiter) sit superbia, Pacat. pan. 20, 3. – / Die Schreibung pedisequus auch in den besten Inschrn., zB. Corp. inscr. Lat. 6, 5540 (wo PEDISEQUS); vgl.
