rēiectio, ōnis, f. (reicio), das Zurückwerfen, I) eig. das Auswerfen, sanguinis, Blutspeien, Plin. 23, 146. – II) bildl.: A) das Zurückschieben, Vonsichabwälzen, als rhet. Fig., in alium, Cic. bei Quint. 9, 1, 30 (hingegen Cic. de or. 3, 204 jetzt traiectio in alium). – B) das Zurückweisen, die Verwerfung, Verschmähung, a) übh., Cic.: huius civitatis, Cic. – b) als publiz. t. t., die Verwerfung, Ablehnung der ausgelosten Richter, das Perhorreszieren (vgl. reicio no. I, B, 2. b, α), r. iudicum, Cic. I. Verr. 16 u.a.: absol., Cic. Sull. 92 u.a. – u. übtr., Quint. 7, 1, 34: publica eruditorum reiectio, das Recht der Gelehrten, sich öffentlich einen Richter zu verbitten, Plin. nat. hist. praef. § 7. – c) als rhet. Fig. = ἀποδίωξις, das Zurückweisen gewisser Punkte als nicht zur Sache gehörig, Iul. Rufin. de schem. lex. § 12.
