Therapnae, ārum, f. (Θεράπναι), eine Stadt in Lakonika, südöstl. von Sparta am Eurotas, Geburtsort der Helena, Mela 2, 3, 4, (2. § 41). Stat. silv. 4, 8, 53. – Dav. Therapnaeus, a, um (Θεραπναιος), a) therapnäisch, auch poet. für spartanisch marita od. nata rure Therapnaeo, Helena, Ov.: sanguis Therapnaeus, des Knaben Hyazinth aus Amyklä, Ov.: Amyclae, spartanisch, weil es neben Sparta lag. Mart. – b) = tarentinisch, Sil. – c) = sabinisch, weil die Sabiner von den Spartanern abstammen sollen, Sil.
