āvocātio, ōnis, f. (avoco), das Abziehen, I) im allg.: avocatio a cogitanda molestia (von dem Gedanken an die B.) et revocatio ad contemplandas voluptates, Cic. Tusc. 3, 33: ἀποπλάνησις est iudicis a re contraria nobis avocatio, Iul. Rufin. de fig. sent. 13. – II) insbes.: a) die störende Zerstreuung, Sen. ep. 56, 4. – b) die erheiternde Zerstreuung, Plur. avocationes (Ggstz. exercitationes), Iustin. 37, 4, 1.
