acolūthos u. -us, on u. um (ἀκόλουθος), I) nachfolgend; subst., acoluthus (acolythus, acolitus, acoletus), ī, m., ein Unterdiener od. Gehilfe des Priesters bei gewissen Feiergebräuchen der röm. Kirche, bes. am Altar, der Meßgehilfe, Mesner (nach Isid. 7, 12, 29 rein lat. ceroferarius), Augustin. ep. 191, 1. Corp. inscr.
