Cilnius

Cilnius, a, um (etrurisch Cfelne), Name eines mächtigen Geschlechts ( Cilnium genus) in der etrurischen Stadt Arretium (Sil. 7, 29), im J. 301 v. Chr. durch Waffengewalt vertrieben, aber durch Hilfe der Römer wieder zurückgeführt, s. Liv. 10, 3, 2 u. 10, 5, 13. – Aus diesem Geschl. stammte von väterl. Seite Mäcenas, der berühmte Freund des Augustus, Cilnius Maecenas, Tac. ann. 6, 11, 2 (u. dazu Ruperti). Macr. sat. 2, 4, 12. Vgl. Müller-Deecke, Die Etrusker 1, 484 u.
