Caicus

Caīcus, ī, m. (Κάϊκος), I) Fluß in Großmysien, der am Fuße des Temnus in Teuthrania entspringt, südlich fließt, sich bei Pergamum mit dem Mysus od. Mysius (der auch auf dem Temnus entspringt, weshalb Ov. met. 15, 277 den Caicus für den Mysus in seinem obern Lauf hält) vereinigt, dann westlich strömt u. sich in den Sinus Eleaticus ergießt, j. Bakirtschai (= Kupferfluß), Verg. georg. 4, 370. Cic. Flacc. 72: C. Teuthranteus, Ov. met. 2, 243. – II) ein Troer, Verg. Aen. 1, 183 u. 9, 35.
